Planning
a vegetable garden is your first step
and normally we end up in the backyard
for our home gardens. However, there
are a number of considerations to
take into account prior to digging
up your backyard.
Some
basic ideas to think about in your
Garden Planning:
-
The size of the garden?
Large gardens can require
more maintenance than a
smaller more manageable
garden.
-
Sunlight and due to shade
from the house and large
trees this can take us further
into the back-yard when
preparing a garden.
-
Consider what and how much
you want to plant.
-
Remember the flower gardens
and the use of containers.
Many vegetables are ornamental
in appearance and can be
used in the flower beds
and others that can be grown
in containers.
-
Diagram the garden rows
on a piece of paper and
note the vegetable variety
and the length you wish
to assign each vegetable.
It would be a good idea
to use a scale of a selected
number of feet to an inch
on your diagram.
-
Keep waiting plants out
of the sun. Be sure to keep
all waiting plants you're
not working with at the
moment in the shade.
